Bay Aging is opening its Senior Activity Centers five days a week to
older persons who need to escape the current heat wave. Public Service
Announcements are announcing this service and that individuals may sign up
for a fan at the Centers.
Bay Aging received a clean audit from the VA Department of Aging and
the Corporation for National and Community Service (RSVP – Retired Senior
Volunteer Program).
The new Commissioner for Aging, Julie Christopher, will be visiting
our programs on August 17, 2006, and all Board Members are encouraged
to join the activities of the day.

Bay Aging has been sending out disaster preparedness information to
clients and staff members. In addition, most of the in-home staff has been
educated on preparing for a predicted Pandemic Influenza.

A Medicaid Task Force has been convened to overhaul the Medicaid system
for VA. VA is moving toward a Managed Care model and PACE models, and will
not likely continue the Elderly Case Management program we currently use.
